Monero is a digital currency using CryptoNote protocol. The open source reference implementation of CrytoNote was coded from scratch and is not a fork of Bitcoin. Monero was launched on April 18, 2014 (then called Bitmonero). The name means "coin" in the Esperanto language.
Social petition platform, Change.org, has announced the launch of a screensaver that mines Monero on behalf of the organization. “The Mining Screensaver” will pool the computing power of the program’s users, with all XMR generated being automatically transferred to the Change.org Foundation.
This release fixes the salient time-out issue (i.e. wallet not able to connect to daemon upon creating a transaction or wallet disconnecting during wallet refresh (with either a remote node or a local node)).
